September 16, 2010 Silly Bands: Students have been warned not to play with their silly bands at school, this includes trading. If your child is playing with their silly bands they will be asked to move their name, possibly missing recess, and the silly bands with be taken away until the end of the day.
Math Homelinks: Tonight is the first night your child will be completing Math Homelinks for homework. As a reminder please help your child tear the assigned page out, complete their work, and return it the following day to school.
Webpage: I've been having some problems with our class webpage. While trying to update my page over the weekend, it ended up deleting about half of my postings. The technology department is in the process of moving my webpage to a new address and hopefully that will take care of some of the issues. Thank you for being patient during this process and I'll let you know when the new page is up and running!
August 30, 2010 Parent access to progress book is currently close. The target launch date is for September 1st to be up and running.
August 27, 2010Reading LogOn Monday, August 30th, your child will be coming home with a reading log inside their red 'Home Folder'. Each week your child will be encouraged to read a minimum of 90 minutes (thats less than 15 minutes a day). They need to keep track of this in their Reading Log calendar every night. On Sunday nights your child needs to add up their weekly total and have you sign off on it. Every Monday those who read at least 90 minutes will get a sticker to put on our Reading Log chart. At the end of every quarter those who have received a set number of stickers will be invited to eat their packed lunch in the classroom with the teacher and I will bring in a special dessert! Entertainment BooksTonight your child will be bringing home an Entertainment Book. Please make sure to return the books by Friday, September 10th. SnackDue to a peanut allergy in our classroom, children will NOT be allowed to bring in an afternoon snack with anything containing peanuts. Again please make sure that you are sending in a healthy snack that students can open at their desks. Thanks so much for your understanding. Water BottlesIf your child would like they may bring in a water bottle to keep at their desks throughout the day. We will not take time to refill bottles, so students need to remember to take the bottles home daily.
